Volunteer Crew, 2014

Volunteer to help serve food, host an activity, or collaborate with a group of your friends and co-workers to prepare food for the day! We use Signup Genius to organize volunteers. To create an account, it will ask for your name and email address so our coordinator can contact you. We complete basic background checks for serving volunteers.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Serving volunteers: We ask that volunteers commit to 10:45 AM – 1:30 PM. The meal is 11:30-12:15 PM and the activity time is 12-1 PM. Your group will be in charge of setup before lunch and clean up after, as well as serving lunch and assisting with/conducting the activity with the children after lunch. The lunch and activities take place on the lawn of the Ranshaw House at 515 W. Penn St., but we have a basement room reserved at the Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St., for inclement weather. We need five volunteers each day, and ask that each member of a group signs up independently for individual contact information. We complete basic background checks for serving volunteers.
  • Activity hosts: Anyone is welcome to host an activity for the children. Activity hosts are asked to arrive by 11:45AM to be prepared to begin the activity at noon. Activities will be held outside except in the case of inclement weather. We’ll host activities in the basement of the Community Center during poor weather..
  • Food preparation teams: Volunteers for food preparation should make well rounded meals including a protein, dairy, grain, fruit and/or vegetable. Please check out our Sample Menus. Food must be prepared and at the site by 11:15 a.m. Food service will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. and we need to have time to be sure the food is set-up.
  • Sponsoring organization: A Sponsoring Organization is an organized group that is sponsoring the daily activities AND the day’s food. Some days may not have a specific sponsoring organization.

Contact Us if you would like to make food contributions for the summer of 2016.
